Jennie 'Less Than a Lover' First Teaser
July 18, 2026 — At around 10 pm, Jennie uploaded a polaroid picture of her leaning on a mystery guy’s shoulder with a white heart emoji covering the guy’s face on her IG story. Not gonna lie, my initial thoughts after I saw the post were either she’s soft launching her boyfriend to the world (which is honestly pretty unlikely, but hey, we’re talking about Jennie who’s a trailblazer in everything she does so never say never) or this is a new teaser for her upcoming track release—which turned out to be the right answer.
Having recently mentioned that she’s going to release one of her new songs soon, me and other fans came to a conclusion that the teaser is indeed for her new song—‘Less Than a Lover’—release.

First initial reactions from fans were mixed between surprise which turned into excitement once everybody realized that the post actually a teaser for an upcoming release and straight up psyched from those who’ve been anticipating Jennie to release new music.
Here are some reactions I saw on my X timeline after the IG story was uploaded:
One fan X User @yk2aii pointed out that Jennie might’ve been dropping subtle hints all along through her Tiktok post that she uploaded after her performance at Roskilde Festival. The Titktok video actually contained the song ‘London Bridge’ by Fergie which was released on July 18, 2006. The fact that the release date of Fergie’s song coincided with the date Jennie posted this first teaser led the fan to conclude that this was indeed a clue from Jennie who’s known for dropping (very) subtle hints prior to new music release in the past. Personally, I’m not 100% sure if this was Jennie’s intention, but it worked out pretty perfectly so yeah, I guess we can call this a hint from Jennie.
Another fan @eleven_digits commented on how the guy from the polaroid looks similar (hairstyle-wise I think) to Lisa’s ’Dream’ MV’s male lead Kentaro Sakaguchi. I mean, the hairstyle does look similar. But I also think there are tons of guys who have that same hairstyle so I’ll take it as just a lighthearted fun comment from a JenLisa shipper.
@jenniedebuts made a prediction against the majority who’s guessing that the guy will be played by a famous actor by saying that the guy could well be just a model, which is a very high possibility too I think.
@keddyjenlisa posted saying that the fans already found a possible candidate of who the guy is since Jennie’s team follows this person Instagram. As of now, Nah Kai (@dornweirb) is the number one candidate from fans’ sleuthing. Also, I’m still amazed to this day how people can so quickly found out who’s following who. Like how do people do it? Is there an app to cross check followers? Or do people check it manually one by one (and if they do, props to them really for being able to catch it and have the patience to do it)?

@GENIUS9N also pointed out that for this one single Instagram story, Jennie actually amassed over 3.4 million social media engagement in 24 hours, making her the number 1 trending celebrity worldwide during that time frame. I’m obviously biased but I genuinely think Jennie is one of the most influential celebrities in our generation today. Her popularity and impact are pretty insane these days.
