Grunge

April 06, 2015 by greysuitcase in Cafe

I've been finding myself going back to this place these past couple of weeks. Grunge (그런지) is located at a small alley near Sangsu Station (상수역) and they have a pretty cozy cafe atmosphere. This place has probably became one of my favorite cafes around Sangsu Area. One of the reasons is they have a good non-coffee drink selections. Some of them are more substantial than others, so it makes a good place to go to after dinner if you feel like getting dessert (they also have cakes too). Also, they play music I grew up with in the cafe so it's nice to listen to familiar tunes while hanging out there. One of these days, I probably gonna go back to this cafe again. Catch up on some reading, kick-back, relax while enjoying their Green Tea Summer Latte (그린티 썸머라떼).

Spring in Seoul: Yeonnam-dong (연남동), Seoul, South Korea.

Hints of Spring

April 03, 2015 by greysuitcase in Moments, Weekend, South Korea, Seoul

Haven't had a lot of chance to walk outside lately so earlier today, I wandered around Yeonnam (연남동) neighborhood and saw flowers started to bloom here and there. This is my first spring in South Korea, so I'm kinda looking forward to see all the cherry blossom around the city. My friends told me spring in Seoul could be gone in a blink of an eye. It usually lasts for a couple of weeks, sometimes it could be as short as 1-2 weeks before summer takes over. Hopefully I can catch the cherry blossom before they disappear. For now, here's a glimpse of it.

Have a good Easter weekend everybody!

Plant

March 31, 2015 by greysuitcase in Food, Weekend

I have heard many good reviews about Plant (플랜트), a small vegan bakery/cafe in Itaewon (이태원) run by Alien's Day Out. Having never been there before, I was looking forward to taste their food when Noah & Hannah suggested to go there for lunch. They only have 2 items on their lunch menu, so we ordered both of them to try — the Lentil Veggie Burger & Tempeh Carrot Slaw Wrap & Cream of Broccoli Soup. Both of them were great! I had the Lentil Veggie Burger and for a burger without any meat on it, it was pretty darn good. Everything was very flavorful and it filled me up just right. I heard their cakes are pretty good too, but since I didn't get to try that, I'll save that for my next visit.

Cafe Comma

March 27, 2015 by greysuitcase in Cafe

Cafe Comma (카페 꼼마) is probably one of the most popular cafes in Hongdae (홍대) area, amongst tourists anyway. Where else can you find a high-ceiling cafe with an entire wall dedicated for shelves filled with books? I believe there are 2 locations of Cafe Comma in Hongdae, one near Hongdae Subway Station and the other one is near the parking lot street. This location is the latter one and a little smaller than the other location. Also, good to know, since cafes and restaurants in Hongdae seem to open their doors at a more later time during the day, this is a good place to go to for an early coffee fix.

I actually came here with two fellow instagrammers that I met for the first time on that day, @noahskim & @hannahmuhh. We spent a whole day hopping from one place to another so you'll probably be seeing them again on my future posts (as well as the previous one if you haven't already :p).

WWIM 11 Seoul

March 24, 2015 by greysuitcase in Events, Weekend

World Wide Instameet 11 (#WWIM11) was held last weekend and I once again had the opportunity to joined to the one in Seoul, hosted by Seoul State of Mind. This time, we roamed around the Changdeok Palace (창덕궁) and pretty much stayed there for about 3 hours or so. Since this is my second instameet, I got to see people that I've met from the previous instameet (see WWIM10 post here) as well as new friends, which is always fun :) One thing in common though, is meeting people who are in transit—whether they're here for just a short trip or staying for a couple of years—just like me. It always fascinates me to listen to other people's life stories. I also got the chance to meet a couple of people, who I follow on instagram, in person and get to know them a little bit better.

To tell you the truth, instagram has connected me to some of the most wonderful people I've met here in Seoul. We bonded through our passion for photography and it has became a window of opportunity to get to know more about the people behind the camera. It has also has given me multiple chances to collaborate with other artists and they were really fun experiences. Through collaborations, you inspire, be inspired, and push each other to be better. And so with that, friendships were born and I'll be forever thankful for instagram for connecting me to these wonderful people. (p.s. this post is totally not sponsored by instagram. just sharing my experience :p)

Anyways, although it wasn't intentional, I ended up shooting a lot of portrait shots this time and got a set of #architectureandpeople series. Can't wait for the next WWIM! :)

(Special thanks to Ken for hosting WWIM11)
