Museum of Modern History of Korea

October 12, 2014 by greysuitcase in Travel

Came across a charming museum in Heyri Art Village, Museum of Modern History of Korea (한국 근현대사 박물관). That time we ran out of time so I didn't get to go inside the museum. But the things that they have in front of the building were very interesting. Maybe next time.

Subi

October 09, 2014 by greysuitcase in Food

Our pit stop for lunch during out Heyri Art Village visit was Subi, a Ramen shop inside the village. The place has some cute decorations and we met a nice lady who worked there that we ended up chatting with. Knowing that we are learning Korean, she even offered to introduce us to her kids to practice our Korean. Definitely going to go back again if I have the time :)

WWIM10Seoul

October 05, 2014 by greysuitcase in Events, Weekend

This past Saturday, I got a chance to join an instameet in Seoul that was hosted by Ken Lee from Seoulstateofmind (check out his blog if you haven't. He has a very cool photo collections). This was my first instameet experience and I got to say it was pretty interesting and fun. More than 40 people showed up for the event and everybody is from everywhere. It's kinda cool to meet people from different parts of the world. Since the group was kinda big, people split into smaller groups when exploring the areas. I walked together with 3 other people who I met that day for the first time and our group kinda get lost because we're pretty much always behind. Still, it was fun playing catch up and trying to find out where the rest of the group was :)

We started our route from Hyehwa Station (혜화역) and hiked up to Naksan Park (낙산공원) to see the view from the top. After that we headed down and explored the Ihwa Mural Village (이화 벽화마을), where they have these cool artworks painted on the walls around the neighborhood. Cheonggyecheon stream (청계천) was the next stop and for the last stop we made our way to Dongdaemun Design Plaza (동대문디자인플라자) and pretty much dispersed from there. I got some good shots, made new friends, and had a good time during the 4 hours we were doing the photowalk. Definitely going to go again if there's going to be one in the future. And special thanks to Ken Lee for organizing the event!

Heyri Art Village (헤이리 문화예술마을)

October 01, 2014 by greysuitcase in Travel

Took a day trip to Paju and visited Heyri Art Village. The complex is definitely interesting and if you are a fan of architectural buildings, coming here might be fun for you. I went on a weekday and the place was pretty quite. I only saw a couple of people around the relatively big complex.  Nevertheless, it still fun though because it feels like we own the place :p . Inside Heyri Art Village, there are many different museums, art galleries, artists' workrooms, restaurants and cafes that you can visit. So there's definitely plenty to see.

Hogsmeade

September 27, 2014 by greysuitcase in Travel

After lunch, we pretty much spent our time roaming around Hogsmeade. The place's so charming, I wouldn't mind living here. Really. I think they pretty much have almost all the stores that are in the books and they all decorated prettily too. Here's the last set of the photos.

Of course on of the things that you should probably do when you're in Hogsmeade is to try the famous Butterbeer. I'm always curious to know how this drink would taste, and it was goood. First thing first though, although it's called Butterbeer, it's a non-alcoholic drinks. They have two kinds of Butterbeer—cold or frozen. The cold Butterbeer was served with ice and the frozen Butterbeer was served just like a slush drink with froth on top. The taste? It tasted like cream soda and butterscotch and it wasn't bad at all. I liked the frozen Butterbeer better than the cold one and I even got seconds (I blame it on the hot weather :p).

Also, we met Ollivander (or at least the Ollivander who was on shift at the time) of the Ollivanders—Makers of Fine Wands. Watched him do his things where he helped an audience to picked her perfect wand. The experience was pretty cool.

And this wraps up my Universal Studio adventure.  Next up for my travel series will be the Disneyworld adventure. And so the theme parks hopping will continue :) Stay tuned.
